Battle of the Foundations: Bobbi Brown, Estée Lauder, MAC and Urban Decay

Girlfriends I have used what seems like dozens of foundations over the last several years. I decided with my latest skin problems that perhaps I was in need of a change in foundation. That said I decided to test out a few new (to me) foundations against my current MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing  Waterproof foundation.

MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation

I have been using Mac’s Pro Longwear Waterproof foundation for the last year plus. While I really enjoy the coverage, lately it isn’t wearing well. By mid-day my makeup has been looking cakey and patchy. Also I was unable to find a shade that matched my skintone so I was mixing two colors, which is NO BUENO in my book. Lastly with the winter dryness I am convinced this foundation was further drying my skin out, albeit a “nourishing” formula. TIME FOR A CHANGE, but I can’t say that I’ll never go back to MAC 🙂

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation

The coverage of this foundation is decent, but I found it not to be long-wearing at all. Super disappointing considering I like Bobbi Brown ALOT. Ima gonna pass.

The coverage on this one is also good, medium to full. I found this foundation actually blended and wore better than the BB longwear (above). If you are into a foundation that doesn’t have to be super long-wearing, than this may be a good one to try, and it has SPF 15.. However, I’m still not sold, onto the next.

Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Longwear Liquid Foundation
UD All Nighter
I was excited to try this one as I used to wear UD’s Naked foundation and really liked it. I found this wore ok on the skin, but still I am not loving it.. NEXT.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup WINNER!!!!!!!!!!!

EStee Lauder.jpg

I have always considered Estee Lauder as my grandmothers makeup, but there is something to be said of a longstanding cosmetic line who continues to compete with the new kids on the block. This foundation is very lightweight, and somewhat thin in consistency, but the coverage is amazing. This blends easily onto a primed face, and lo and behold, is no shit LONGWEARING! Another plus is that the foundation does not oxidize over time, which was an issue with my MAC foundation. This paired with Laura Mercier’s translucent loose setting powder wears all day like a dream. I AM SOLD.

Cost: $39.50 USD
Where to find: esteelauder.com | sephora.com | nordstrom.com
Tip – If you aren’t willing to commit, go to your local Nordstrom and ask for a sample. They will usually send you on your way with a couple weeks worth of product to test 🙂
Lasting Power: Daily 10+ hours

  1. Nice post! Shock about the Bobbi Brown foundations! I thought they would have been better than that, so happy I didn’t shell out 💰 for those! Aha I was using the Estée Lauder foundation for the longest time, but then it felt like my skin needed a change something just different and I ended up going for the NARS all day luminous weightless foundation! Have you gotten round to trying that one out? I did a review post on mine which might get you interested aha https://thetypicalbeautyblog.wordpress.com/2017/02/09/review-nars-all-day-luminous-weightless-foundation/ ✨💙
